As far as Boox devices I have a Tab Mini c and Go color 7 gen 2. The first has a 7.8 in screen, and the second a 7 in screen. The seven inch is so much more convenient. When i'm laying down and reading or just in general period I was worried that it'd be a lot harder to be able to write on it versus my bigger one, but honestly both do great.

We are all hoping....ok I am....that boox refreshes the tab mini c (well personally I want it in B&W). That would be a good device too for what you want.
