One Hundred Years of Solitude

Pros

• One Hundred Years of Solitude by G.G. Marquez
• This really is a wonderful book~ I hope I still have my old copy, I want to reread this soon in the next couple years.
• this question mostly stems from my want to read the count of monte cristo and one hundred years of solitude in their original languages
• Colombia - Gabriel García Márquez's 100 Years of Solitude is by far the most famous one. Apparently the English translation is superb.

Cons

• I underlined every word I didn’t know - which was literally a third of them! Reading that whole book was a painful ordeal, but I learned a lot of words.
• I have to say I have mixed feelings, it feels a bit all over the place and I find it hard to get really sucked in. Remembering past reading sessions is quite difficult because the chapters can be very different following each other.
• I was really frustrated reading it and nearly gave up, but as I approached the end and realized where the story was going, I got more and more into it. The ending totally made up for the seemingly plotless story and all the confusing rec...
• I get that you're supposed to see the setting as more of a character than the characters themselves, but it was so hard for me to get invested in the progression of all the scattered threads that just kinda trickled out all the time
• Oh man I could not get through it. It felt so scattered, or something. Like thoughts within thoughts. Thoughts would end before they felt complete.2 page long paragraphs. Just felt so matter of fact and not really a story I don't know ha...
