Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Finally, Omarchy looks pretty sexy and tempting right now, even though it might go against everything that I'm looking for (LTS and low-maintenance).
  • Omarchy is working out of the box.
  • I recently checked out Omarchy which comes natively with Hyprland. It's still Arch based though but personally I don't use anything (so far) from AUR so I'm not too worried about it.
  • Given what's already been done with Omarchy and the Panther Lake XPS machines, I hope full Linux support for the XPS 13 arrives soon after GA...if not before!
  • seeing Hyprland and a modern Linux environment running surprisingly smoothly on a single-core Sempron with only 1GB of RAM was genuinely impressive.

Cons

  • i was using omarchy on another laptop i had, but it wont work with touchscreen.
  • but please whatever you do don't download Omarchy.
  • Please, don't use Omarchy. Also don't use NixOS as a beginner, it has a steep learning curve and requires you to have some previous knowledge.
  • Omarchy is just a bloated "flavor of the month" distro. If you really want Arch with Hyprland pre-installed, just use CachyOS.
  • Omarchy is a distro that's not designed to be user friendly. It's pretty, but it is a very opinionated distro and makes a lot of decisions for you and some of these decisions might't be right for you.

I installed Omarchy on it. Except the sound and the backlight of the keyboard everything worked out the box.
