Old Forester 1910 is a highly-regarded double-oaked bourbon known for its rich, dessert-forward profile featuring notes of toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and dark fruit. While it sits at a lower proof (93) than its sibling 1920, it is praised for its consistency and value, often serving as a staple "easy sipper" for fans of heavily charred oak.
Pros
- Rich dessert notes including toasted marshmallow, vanilla bean, and chocolate malt
- Excellent value and high availability compared to premium or limited releases
- Smooth, approachable profile that is frequently described as a perfect winter sipper
- Consistent flavor profile that serves as a reliable alternative to other double-oaked bourbons
Cons
- The finish can be perceived as astringent or overly bitter by some drinkers
- Lower proof (93) may lack the intensity desired by fans of high-proof spirits
- Some users find the flavor profile somewhat linear or less complex than the more expensive 1924 expression
Caveats
- Multiple reviewers noted that the bourbon improves significantly after the bottle has been open for a few months, as initial bitterness tends to mellow
- While often compared to Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, it is generally described as less sweet and more char-forward
Best for
- Fans of double-oaked bourbons looking for a 'dessert' pour
- Cold-weather sipping
- Drinkers seeking a reliable, cost-efficient shelf staple
Avoid if
- You are sensitive to oak-driven bitterness or astringency
- You exclusively prefer high-proof, high-heat bourbons
- You prefer a very sweet, syrupy profile over charred oak notes
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median age of approximately 413 days, which is typical for stable spirit products where flavor profiles remain consistent over years.

I love this bottle, but strangely every once in a while the oak just comes off a bit too bitter.

Some feel like its price isn’t justified when you can get other strong OF offerings like 1920 and 1910 for half as much.
id rather spend the same money on an old forester 1910 or a knob creek 12 and actually enjoy the glass.

1910 is my favorite bourbon. I buy a bottle every weekend. Really dark so you can tell it's sweet.
For me, the clear winner of this blind was the bourbon that isn’t more expensive and harder to find. I’m partially surprised – not that I preferred the 1910, nor that there were clear differences between the two, but that the 1910 was that much better than its Whiskey Row counterpart.
