Pros

  • I always recommend Okinawa. Japanese standards in safety and a subtropical paradise with peaceful landscapes. Accomodations, food and everything else is cheap.
  • okinawa? cheaper than hawaii
  • And if you still want that “honeymoon beach + slow life” finish, add Okinawa.
  • For beaches, Okinawa could be an option as well, but I've never been there.
  • Unless you fly to Okinawa.

Cons

  • A flight to Okinawa is about the same as to Korea. I'd drop Okinawa and head there. You also need a car for Okinawa and you can use public transport for everywhere else.
  • I suggested Okinawa but again, out of our budget I think and also typhoon season is something he worries about.

You can also consider Okinawa which is very different from mainland Japan.
