Pros
- Uwe Rosenberg has a lot of really good games that I think would fit into this area, Nusfjord being the first that comes to mind.
- Nusfjord for middle weight worker placement. It's excellent at 1-5P, definitely a step up from gateway games on OP's list - but not nearly as complex as the heavier ones either.
- A safer pick for an Uwe game would be something such as Nusfjord (if you want something tight like Agricola, but it’s not anywhere near “punishing”)
- **Cascadia**, **Nusfjord**, or **Viticulture**
- And then **Nusfjord** by Uwe Rosenberg, which I think shows off his best tendencies distilled into a smooth, flexible package.

- I like Nusfjord but for whatever reason it absolutely did not hit with my group at all. Shame. Luckily it has a reasonable solo mode so I dig it out every so often.

My number 1 game. I’ve played it hundreds of times and still adore it. At 2 players we’re now down to around 30-40mins - it packs great punch for a relatively small investment of time and set up faffiness.
Nusfjord is really simple compared to his other worker placement games, but it is so incredibly good.
I played the game multiple times years ago. ... Trying to discredit someone for remembering most of the math on the problem I saw over and over but not remembering the exact math on how a game I didn't like years ago played out down to the specific buildings being referenced is the most passive-aggressive r/boardgames bullshit I've seen here in quite a while.
First time I played it, really liked the early game, then noticed how it quickly devolved into, "if you do a reasonably obvious move, you're getting 3 points per turn. And there's nothing else you could possibly do to get more. ... Early game fun, then 3, 3, 3, 3, all around the table.
It’s a great game. So many fish!
