Pros

  • Though I agree, the music, the story were amazing. Music especially. I've been routinely listening to it for months.
  • Still playing and loving NieR: Replicant, but I just got to the area I've been avoiding all playthrough: the manor surrounded by giant spiders.
  • Nier Replicant turns into a novel at a few points.
  • Personally, the tedium of the sidequests connects me to the world, that is specific to Nier Repicant.
  • I think this game is unforgettable. The music, the characters, the story, the mysteries, the philosophy behind it.

Cons

  • Well, my first playthrough took about 20-30 hours, mostly because of unnecessary grinding and sidequests. ... I also didn't mind those puzzles with conditions, some of them were fun, especially against shades on my second round.
  • I didn't like that endings are more or less the same and don't offer much compared to lore dump from Popola and Devole in the end.
  • The lore and the story itself are very good, but I dare to say, it only becomes apparent near the end of the game, when all the truth is revealed. Before the ending, it's just fetch quest after fetch quest and endless whining about curin...
  • To be fair I only played the first 6-8 Hours of the game but so far i would describe the core gameplay as very basic. Combat feels very like painting by number and never really exciting or challenging. ... However the main fun i experien...
  • That said, the actual act of going through it is mediocre at best but... I really don't care cause doing those boring fetch quests I grew attached to the world and the characters.

The lore and the story itself are very good, but I dare to say, it only becomes apparent near the end of the game, when all the truth is revealed. Before the ending, it's just fetch quest after fetch quest and endless whining about curing Yonah. ... The combat is really tedious.

To be fair I only played the first 6-8 Hours of the game but so far i would describe the core gameplay as very basic. Combat feels very like painting by number and never really exciting or challenging. ... However the main fun i experience in this game is truly the art. ... Also the music is one of the best soundtracks I ever experienced in a game.
