Pros
- If you have time and you want to do both of the main tourist sections of Canada, fly to Montreal, work back to Toronto, see Niagara Falls if it interests you.
- I would heavily prioritize Niagara Falls as its way better than anything in Toronto. Personally I would literally stay there for a bit instead of day-tripping, stay at Sheraton Fallsview.
Cons
- Ehhh I’m a tour guide and Travel host and i highly advise against the Falls. Sure it’s a nice experience but nothing else there.
- Niagara Falls is a 6 or 7 hour drive from NYC, I would definitely advise against that since you only have a week here.
- Traffic in and around Toronto is really brutal!
- I liked Niagara Falls well enough but once you’ve viewed it for an hour and done the boat ride, you’re pretty much done IMO. I got a horrible sunburn waiting in line to visit the Canadian side (which has different views), which was the m...
- Niagara Falls is far, about a 6 hour drive across the state of NY (I imagine there are flights from NYC to Buffalo but I’ve only done it by car so I can’t speak to that) and I don’t recall any easy trains.

I liked Niagara Falls well enough but once you’ve viewed it for an hour and done the boat ride, you’re pretty much done IMO. I got a horrible sunburn waiting in line to visit the Canadian side (which has different views), which was the most memorable part for me lol. If it’s a bucket list item, you can try to go for it, but if you’re more of a city person it might not be worth the effort, especially because it’s easiest to get to by car.

It's a very fun place if you go on the Canadian side. The NY side doesn't really have much. The thing to be mindful of is that it's perfect for 2-3 days. I definitely wouldn't stay longer or even up to a week because it's not a big city like NYC where there is a lot to do.
Neither Niagara Falls or Miami are day trips from NYC.
