I actually switched from a pihole to this because it was much simpler to configure and maintain, and also worked away from home. It's not without flaws, but does a very good job of blocking ads.

I have the same and have configured all mobile devices to use that nextdns when outside the home network too ..

I used NextDNS, works also very well.

If you want to beef up what you’re doing, try services like NextDNS or running a PiHole, etc. You can subscribe to specific advertising and malware blocklists and also add your own blocks and exceptions. It can be much more robust.

NextDNS is another option that does the same thing, I used to use it and it was also good.
