I did wonder about something like Netrunner (because I own the original box and the theme looks cool) but I have never had a chance to even play it and I know it is a LCG and not a CCG and I also worry about any extra stuff to really make that fun without making it annoying or having to really invest.

I bet the author of this article would consider Netrunner to be a “dead game”, and I play it every week.
If you want far more complex card format games, Arkham Horror LCG and Netrunner are both good but a bigger commitment.
