We spent 9 days exploring Morocco and absolutely loved it! Our itinerary started in Marrakech, followed by a 3-day Sahara desert tour to the Atlas Mountains, Dades Gorges and Merzouga, Fes, Chefchaouen and back to Marrakech. We were very impressed by how diverse the landscape in Morocco was and how kind the Moroccan people were.
I visited again 2 years ago, as an older and slightly less broke man, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Less harassing, higher perceived security,etc.
I remember having to cut the trip short because I simply was not enjoying it. Harassment on the streets, constant feeling of danger, actual death threats from 2 guys who followed me, hard to navigate, etc.
Morocco, India, Egypt. I bet it's beautiful in some of those countries, but unfortunately there are people living over there. I would stay clear

There were about ten points in this story that could have turned towards you ending up trafficked or under some floorboards or locked in a basement. Not being dramatic or crass, but if you're traveling solo these are the things you have to know in the back of your mind are possibilities when you do dumb things like get in strangers' cars to save some cash.
