Moondrop Para 2
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Moondrop Para 2 is a planar magnetic headphone recognized for delivering the signature 'Moondrop' sound with a focus on clarity and spatial performance. It is frequently praised for its airy soundstage, competitive resolution against popular Hifiman models, and exceptional handling of female vocals. While it is considered a high-value option with a comfortable build, its tonality is notably lean, which may not suit listeners looking for warmth or weight in male vocals.
Pros
- Exceptional performance with female vocals
- Spacious, airy soundstage with incisive imaging
- Competitive resolution relative to egg-shaped Hifiman models
- Lightweight and comfortable design with high-quality accessories
- Responds well to pad swaps, which can improve bass and stage depth
Cons
- Lean and thin tonality
- Male vocals can lack body and weight
- Background sounds are pushed forward, which may affect perceived depth for some
Caveats
- The sound signature is leaner and thinner compared to the Moondrop Cosmo
- Achieving stronger bass and a larger stage may require purchasing aftermarket deeper pads
Best for
- Listeners who prioritize female vocals and an airy presentation
- Audiophiles seeking high resolution and 'wow' factor at a competitive price
- Users who prefer a lightweight and comfortable planar magnetic fit
Avoid if
- You prefer a warm, thick, or natural tonality for male vocals
- You find forward-pushed background details distracting
- You want a headphone with significant native bass impact without pad swapping

What redditors said (10 of 10)
Leaner tonality, but exceptional with female vocals and extends a little more into the subbass.
The Para 2 feels more spacious and the imaging less hazy. The Cosmo is pretty similar in terms of lateral imaging (left and right), but it's harder to pick things out front-to-back. Sounds in the background are more subdued on the Cosmo while the Para 2 pushes them forward.
But overall, the Cosmo sounds more natural and balanced than the Para 2, which can sound a little too lean and thin, especially with things like male vocals.
More spacious and incisive soundstage.
I think if you wanted the "Moondrop" sound, the Para 2 is still the better choice.
Competitive resolution to the egg-shaped Hifimans.
So when it comes to the build and accessories, for me the Para 2 actually wins. It's lighter, more comfortable, and comes with arguably better accessories.
If you're just looking for bang-for-your-buck, the Para 2 wins hands-down. It's got the kind of "wow" factor that the egg-shaped Hifiman models have, with competitive resolution, a clear, spacious sound, and a sweet tone for female vocals.
im looking at the Moondrop para 2 with 100mm planar driver and I want bigger!!!!!!
Then I recently purchased the para 2 off reddit and was extremely pleased! They sound much more open and airy. I've tried a couple pads swaps with it already and can say it definitely benefits from deeper pads giving it more stage but stronger bass as well.
