Pros
- I really enjoyed Monopoli when I stayed there.
- I stayed in Monopoli and loved it, but I also don't know that it holds much for day trippers. If you want a small town on the water that's less popular than Polignano al Mare, it will fit the bill, though.
- And the charm of Monopoli is enjoying a coastal town - there aren't a ton of sights per se
- Monopoli is quite pretty.
- Monopoli. This seems like a nice final night, and appears better than ending our trip in Bari.
Cons
- Monopoli is a pretty, touristy beach resort town.As a base it's ok, but unless you want to go to the beach? It's going to be expensive and crowded in July.
- We stayed in Monopoli for 3 nights... After one night we felt like we’d seen Monopoli.

We visited Pugliano a Mare, Mereta, Bari and Monopoli. ... our favorite days were our day trips.
We visited Ostuni, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, and Bari. I’m already dreaming of going back.
Monopoli in Puglia is perfect. You can get the train directly there from Bari or Brindisi (where the airports are). Lovely swimming spots off the walls of the Old Town’s fortress... Amazing restaurants, cheap and you can also get the train to Polignano a Mare or Lecce for the day if you want to explore other areas. Couldn’t recommend Monopoli more!
