Moby Dick

Pros

• Not only is the book amazing, but slowing down has been so joyful and upped both my enjoyment and understanding of it.
• Moby Dick and War and Peace are two examples. In each case, I thought I should read the book to be better read, but I didn’t expect to love it. In both cases, I was wrong.
• I’m a native speaker, an avid reader of the Bible, a 19th century literature enthusiast… And I still read Moby Dick at a snail’s pace. That type of book is separate from the rest of English language. A wonderful side quest
• I swear nobody told me Moby Dick is actually really funny
• Moby dick. Can’t get more on the nose about about obsession and man’s identity crisis with nature.

Cons

• I finish almost all books and I couldn’t finish Moby dick, I got bored so fast.
• I started my classics journey with Moby Dick and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
• The "worst" of the books was Moby Dick, which was "only" 94% normal vocabulary (as opposed to whaling stuff.)
• back when I was reading Moby Dick, I was enjoying the parts about the ship's crew and shenanigans but I was very much forcing myself to read through the sequences where the author elaborates on whale blubber for dozens of pages in a row.
• Kind of what Moby Dick was billed as, but there are several points where he pushes right up against what he's willing to concede to get his revenge and you get to feel the actual choices and the weight of them.
