AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is widely regarded by travelers as a highly efficient and free alternative to standard immigration lines, with some users finding it even faster than Global Entry. While the app is praised for its convenience—allowing for multi-person profiles and advance data entry—it is subject to occasional technical errors and inconsistent availability at certain airports.

Pros

  • Significantly faster than standard passport control lines
  • Free to download and use
  • Supports multiple travelers on a single account and device
  • Allows users to set up profiles and enter passport information before landing

Cons

  • Occasional technical glitches and submission errors upon arrival
  • Not available at all airports or terminals
  • Strict eligibility requirements for use

Caveats

  • Dedicated MPC lanes may not always be open or available even at supported airports
  • The app requires a selfie and declaration to be submitted within 4 hours of crossing customs

Best for

  • Eligible travelers looking for a free way to expedite US customs entry
  • Families who want to manage multiple declarations on one smartphone

Avoid if

  • You are ineligible for the program based on your citizenship or visa status
  • You require the most consistent expedited entry (Global Entry is often preferred despite the cost)

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median age of approximately 184 days, which may affect the accuracy of current airport availability for this fast-changing service.

I’ve been using the free MPC app for the last few years and I find this to be a quicker option than Global Entry when needed.

The correct question would be "is global entry still suspended?" since it's been suspended since DHS funding ran out in February. To which the answer is Yes, it is still suspeneded. GE is not an option. Use MPC

If you've been to the US before, then download the MPC app as others have suggested - it'll make getting through immigration faster.

Yes, it can all be done on one account. I did both me and my mom on my phone and it was so easy.
