- we have a Miele canister for full on cleaning
- FWIW A Miele canister isn’t that heavy, plus all the weight is gliding on the floor behind you. The want and floor head are maybe ~5lbs in your hand.
- I bought a SEBO E3 and either that or the K3 would probably be the best option (or a Miele canister with a power head, you might be able to get a better deal there as they are discontinuing some models).
- Or keep your eyes peeled for marketplace deals on a Miele or Sebo canister.
Cons
- I have an old Miele canister for big jobs, but its awkward in a small apartment
- I have a Dyson V12 and a Miele canister and would never use the Dyson for carpet. But it does a good job on my tile and hardwood floors. It basically replaces a broom.
- If a Miele canister is too heavy definitely don't get the Felix or Dart, those are (top) heavy machines.
- I’ve been considering a Miele canister, but I’ve heard mixed reviews.

My Miele is twenty years old and still going strong. I know you said you don’t like canisters but if I only had to choose one vacuum for a 4k sq foot house, I would go with a Miele canister. They are easy to carry up and down stairs, easy to vacuum stairs with and fit under furniture well.

I use a Miele canister with a turbo brush and it's fine, doesn't dig as deep as my upright with a powered head but it's fine.
I own a Miele canister rather than the E3, but the principle is the same and I use the dusting brush for basically any above floor hard surface. Personally for me that's the strength of a canister over any other form factor - above floor with basically no weight in the hand.
If a Miele canister is too heavy definitely don't get the Felix or Dart, those are (top) heavy machines.
