Miele C1
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Miele C1 is a highly recommended entry-level canister vacuum, frequently cited as a 'Buy It For Life' (BIFL) product for its durability and build quality. It is particularly favored for hard floors and laminate, though it receives mixed reviews regarding its performance on thick carpets and its relatively short power cord.
Pros
- Durable, high-quality construction often described as 'BIFL' material
- Very quiet operation during use
- Adjustable suction power for different surfaces
- Compact, lightweight, and easy to maneuver
- Excellent performance on hardwood, laminate, and hard floors
Cons
- Short power cord limits reach in larger rooms
- High recurring cost due to frequent bag changes
- Less effective on high-pile carpets compared to upright models
- Hair tends to wrap around the brush roller, requiring manual cleaning
- Standard warranty is limited to 1 year compared to longer-lasting competitors
Caveats
- The two-part canister design is polarizing; some users find it cumbersome compared to uprights
- Data includes some mentions of the LG C1 TV due to the shared 'C1' model name
- Tool clips and attachments are sometimes described as less secure or 'budget' compared to higher-end Miele models
Best for
- Hardwood and laminate flooring
- Users seeking a quiet, long-lasting bagged vacuum
- Small to medium-sized living spaces
Avoid if
- Your home is primarily covered in high-pile or thick carpeting
- You prefer a bagless vacuum system
- You need a long cord to clean large open areas without switching outlets

I ended up returning it to Costco and have been looking at the Miele C1 instead
I’ve decided to suggest a Miele C1 to my wife, but she vetoed it. She hates the two part design.
I have a Miele C1 and a main coon cat with really long fur. It does wrap around the roller and I have to cut it off when Im done vacuuming. Overall I am happy with my choice, but the sebo has an easily removable roller that would sounds easier to clean.
I got the Miele C1 and love it for my hardwood floors. I haven’t tried it for carpet. It isn’t HEPA but it has a good filter.
I used my new Miele C1 for the first time today. I have a 2br townhouse with all hardwood floors and the Miele was great. I used the Parquet Twister attachment, which I bought separately. No scratches on the floor, lightweight and easy to maneuver. It got under the bed fine
I've been looking at a Miele C1, a SEBO Kombi, or maybe even a Shark Navigator... I have no idea if there's a quality difference between canister or upright vacuums
It's very clear it could run brighter and is artificially limited, my C1 with aggressive ~38% duty cycle bfi is just as bright as my aw3225 on max brightness.
have a Miele c1 but end up using the featherweight most days
Parent context: Dyson V8 is what you are looking for. Reply: I’m the same way 😅 have a Miele c1 but end up using the featherweight most days
