I absolutely love the look, and I’m fine paying extra for it.
I prefer the fit of Strada and I hope it continues like this.
I actually find the Strada more comfortable, it has slightly more clamping force and the earcups has lightly more resistant to accidently rotating it.
But the huge plus is how efficient it is. These things are *super* easy to drive. I’m running them straight out of an Apple USB‑C dongle and sometimes directly from my laptop’s headphone jack, and they still get plenty loud and sound clean. No amp needed, no DAC stack just plug in and go.
The Strada, though, It doesn’t sound dark or congested, no weird treble peaks, and it’s easy to listen to for hours without fatigue.
Sound: well to make it short, they do sound like a better 99 classic in every category. However, they do have a slight high mid peak which does cause somewhat of a shouty presentation, and this gets marginally worse depending on the intensity of the music you're listening to.
Treble: It sounds "blissfull", "grainy" and slightly "salty" in the higher regions, hard to explain, but this is where mezes tuning sort of comes into place. it's different, somewhat odd and weird but doesn't come out as bad or terrible either. I'd call it slightly "Artificial" sounding, not as pure as the most boring (but one of the best) headphones ever (HD600 ofcourse)
Mids aren't bad, but it isn't the best I've heard. but the high mids do sound "sour" due to the slight peak giving the shouty presentation, but it isn't that fatiguing. Still, it's there though
I wouldn't call the soundstage very wide, but it does have depth and very good imaging. imagine if you have a small Invisible "audio orb" around your head, where instruments can come from all possible directions and that you can pinpoint it precisely. that's what the Strada sounds in that area, not super wide (it's still a close back though) but it has good control
Detail and resolution on the Strada is good however, but it definitely leans towards a darker presentation
