I would suggest a Meze 105 AER - I bought one recently and am very impressed. Well-built, comfortable, and lightweight. It has a slightly warmer-than-neutral voicing, solid mid-bass, and is fun to listen to. The 105 AER punches above its weight from my experience.
meze 105 aer sounds like a reasonable upgrade, it hold some of the certain qualities of the 6xx and improves upon them EXCEPT for the fact that vocals in Meze are recessed, especially compared to 6xx but for the genres you are listening to, I don't think that would be an issue. Also there is a noticeable boost in bass and treble, more fun for rock music and the bass has very good impact.

the aer is not as detailed on that end it is more relaxed and overall I'd say easier to listen too, some people can have treble fatigue with hifimans but due to your age I don't think it would be the case for you.
The 105 AER are great allrounders and don't worry, voices sound just fine. ... besides the well known Meze-quality they look just great!
As I have already had very good experiences with Meze, I personally would ultimately go for the 105 AER first, also because of the package contents with high-quality case and cable bag, great build quality, 100% self-serviceability and the promise of spare parts availability for many years.
From my POV, I like the 105 Aer better since they are brighter, and I do like that shimmer in the upper mids and low treble, while others can be quite offended with that kind of splashy tuning.

I often swap the HD599 for the Meze 105 AER: it has better musical performance. But the ear cups are smaller and I have big ears, so that’s why I like Sennheisers.
