Pros

  • Mexica I love.
  • I have owned Tikal and Mexica. I kept Mexica. I like both but Tikal is slower and more AP prone. Mexica distills what I like about the series.
  • Mexica is beautiful and streamlined with less action points to deal with
  • Mexica's like chess with rivers but Tikal got that Indiana Jones vibe. Java's underrated tho. Go for Tikal!
  • Such a great game. Minimal setup, simple rules that lead to complex interesting choices. Great moments with players blocking each other that inevitably lead to self destructive feuding (in a good way).

Cons

  • Mexica takes a bit longer and is also a bit more complex.
  • It's fun and looks nice, but honestly, I don't really understand how to play it cleverly. Does that come with time, or does this feeling stay with me?

Parent context: An amazing out of print game. For me , the best of the trilogy . Reply: I really don't understand how this could be out of print, which is a real shame. The structure of this game could easily be played in tournaments.

It'll be a lot better with more than 2 for sure. It's my favorite of the trio for sure

Really wish this game wasn't so expensive on the second hand market. Looks like a lot of fun.
