Pros

• Membrane sweep was a piece of cake compared to all of those [4 IUDs].
• The membrane sweep was over quickly and the cramping after was very manageable.
• The membrane sweep for me was not very painful. It’s was a little pinch for 3-5 seconds and then done, followed by basically period like cramps for a few hours.
• Membrane sweep worked for me both times! First I think I had to do it twice, then he came a day later. Second came about 12 hours after my sweep.
• Pro! I didn’t find it that painful and I was holding my LO basically 24 hours later. What was nice for me was that I knew I was triggering labor, so I didn’t have the ‘are these real contraction or not’ thoughts.

Cons

• Never had an IUD but having my membranes stripped was horrific. I would not do it again.
• my membrane sweep did nothing but make me a little crampy, but it sent my best friend into labour with both her kids.
• I'm against because they're not really recommended and to me the cons outweigh the pros.
• I had one at 38+5. It wasn’t bad. It didn’t send me in to labor tho… I’ll be induced this Wednesday at 39+4. I feel like though it helped overall cause babe does seem lower, there is more cramping going on, etc.
• Membrane sweeps are painful, can cause premature membrane rupture, and are a great way to get an infection. They aren’t very reliable, and are known to cause irregular contractions that do not lead to labor.
