Pros

  • Travel for me is the matador globerider 35 .. it's outstanding.
  • I have both, I prefer matador by far, the way the pockets are is better for me It's lighter, materials are softer but resistant as much as aer, and I feel the matador have more space and the way it look odd better for me
  • I used the globerider on one trip recently and had it really heavily loaded with camera gear - I think it was 25 lbs. It was great with the weight, amazingly so considering the straps are good but not super padded (so they can tuck away)...
  • The globerider has great organization, just a bit less, and excellent comfort, just not quite the Aer. The globerider materials are great too. For general travel where you might bring a laptop, the globerider is amazing. Great org, the e...
  • GR35 is lighter, better water bottle pocket, just enough organization without being overkill, and holds more imo

Cons

  • But the hip belt is horrible too remove or add, that's the only cons with it
  • I was able to try the Matador in person first too and was just not sold on it. Did not think the Matador felt as well built mostly.
  • The Matador is nice but exceeds every airline’s limit on size for under seat items.
  • Hip belt removal is not quick—prep ahead of time or leave it tucked away. Strap keepers would be nice out of the box. Side laptop access not easily lockable, but a workaround exists. Only the admin panel suffers from “too many pen slots,...
  • I bought the Globerider 35 at REI and loved everything about it except the hip belt, which was a deal breaker for me. I took it on one trip and could not make it work for my use case and returned it. I really wanted the Globerider to wor...

I used the globerider on one trip recently and had it really heavily loaded with camera gear - I think it was 25 lbs. It was great with the weight, amazingly so considering the straps are good but not super padded (so they can tuck away). Hip belt was important to use with that much weight and the pack did great with it - comfortable, good weight distribution and no concerns about the strap stitching tearing.

The globerider has great organization, just a bit less, and excellent comfort, just not quite the Aer. The globerider materials are great too. For general travel where you might bring a laptop, the globerider is amazing. Great org, the exterior pockets are fantastic and the admin pocket has a tiny bit of its own room and just enough for general travel.

Matador is lighter, more streamlined for org, and much much much more comfy. The front dump pocket is really useful on the go for wet/dirty stuff, jackets, books, smaller bags, etc. Would love a more built-out laptop/tech section with some more separation, but this one does fine, and keeps the main weight of the bag closer to your back.

From a visual design perspective, I personally think the Matador is way nicer.

GR35 it’s lighter and cheaper and personally I think it looks better. Plus the water bottle pocket is much better. I posted a thread recently about mine fitting under the seat on an embraer jet. For a 35l pack this is a huge plus. It’s Definitely my favorite one bag backpack right now.
