Pros

  • You can usually still get to the star game parks like Masai Mara and up to Mt. Kenya/the Aberdares (flights and driving).
  • If you want diversity, this is the place! We saw four of the big five here (lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo). It is massive and I would have loved to spend more than the two days we had here.
  • From Nairobi to Masai Mara by Land Cruiser is a long and difficult adventure, unpredictable and chaotic at times. The further you go into the countryside, the further your heart and eyes open.
  • Early September is actually great for river crossings in the Masai Mara, so you might not need to do both. The herds often move north by then.
  • in masai Mara, ngorongoro crater, Serengeti, then stone town and the northern beaches on Zanzibar. The total experience of the game drives (easily see all of the big 5 plus so many more - masai Mara was great and closer - we drove all th...

Cons

  • Kenya's awesome too, but Masai Mara can be a bit crowded, especially during peak season.
  • Wanted to visit Masai Mara however might have to do a smaller/dryer safari as the flooding was very worrying.

in masai Mara, ngorongoro crater, Serengeti, then stone town and the northern beaches on Zanzibar. The total experience of the game drives (easily see all of the big 5 plus so many more - masai Mara was great and closer - we drove all the way across to western Tanzania to Serengeti), stone town, and turquoise water and beach’s are an amazing package for a trip.
