Pros

  • I ended up finding it's awkward jank endearing. This is one of my all time favorites, believe it or not.
  • Midnight Suns has the best gameplay of all of them. It's a bit weird at first, since it's very board game-coded like the latest Civilization games, but it's also polished and tight. Then we have the Marvel story and side characters stuff...
  • I really got addicted to this game for some reason. The battles were fun and then I was like why the hell am i at book club with wolverine. And love it? Real mass effect vibes in the hub.
  • It really was the most addictive game I've played since Hades 1, and no other game has really scratched that itch for me ever since. ... I'll always remember the Abby as one of my all time favorite "hub worlds" in a game
  • I loved the game and finished it on max difficulty - I don’t remember the grinding though : I never collected herbs, barely explored the Abbey, only improved a few cards etc.

Cons

  • Parent context: The mission gameplay is so good, but the social stuff fell completely flat for me and kind of ruined it. Running around talking to people for 30 minutes between each 15 minute mission grew old real fast for me. Reply: For...

Exploring the Abbey was a chore though.

I do think the game is good, I don't think the combat is nearly as good as you put it, in fact it ends up being surprisingly repetitive after the first 10-20 hours, because the options that you have available on each given fight are just too limited and repetitive... I think tactically wise, it is considerably inferior to Xcom 2 or Fire Emblem.

It’s really frustrating. It’d be such a good game if they focused on the cool superhero combat and had some kind of streamlined base management layer like XCOM. Instead we get a 3rd-person mushroom collection RPG and dating/friendship mini game.

I wanted to enjoy this game, I did enjoy the fights. However I found the RPG elements between the battles dragged on for ages and meant I often didn't get a chance to do more than 1 battle each session.

Midnight Suns has the best gameplay of all of them. It's a bit weird at first, since it's very board game-coded like the latest Civilization games, but it's also polished and tight. Then we have the Marvel story and side characters stuff, which is nice, although an afterthought. So yeah, I'd say the game delivers.

I liked this game but it over stayed its welcome, and personally I thought the out of combat stuff got really grating and kind of dumb. ... I don't really dislike all the interpersonal relationship development and plotlines and stuff, I just don't think they did it well
