I ripped about 500 discs, and I also used MakeMKV. I found that the information on the back of the box and/or [blu-ray.com](https://www.blu-ray.com) was really helpful in figuring out which bonus feature were which, but honestly it was pretty painful and a **VERY** manual process.

So a heads up if you're relying on MakeMKV to preserve CEA-608 Closed Caption information from DVDs: technically it does not preserve *all* Closed Caption information. The conversion option it uses via CCExtractor is a lossy conversion to SRT that doesn't keep positioning information. You'll get the text, but if it was placed somewhere other than bottom center (e.g. under a specific character when they were speaking) then that information is lost forever. MakeMKV also strips the CC info from the MPEG2 video stream, so you can't even do an additional extraction step after.

You can use any PC available that is able run MakeMKV for example so it's not just Intel anymore.
