Pros

  • It's a pretty perfect premise for a game with that kind of budget tier on the hardware it was built for. ... Do your best facsimile of Arkham combat (but without needing to add all of the gadgets) and you've got yourself an extremely sol...
  • Mad Max is the perfect middle budget game. Was it perfect? No. Was it fun? Hell yeah!
  • I thought it was a great game. I may have to do a replay at some point. ... It really does immerse you in the world of Mad Max.
  • I picked this up for a few dollars and it runs perfectly on the steam deck. I wasn't expecting much, I don't generally love games that focus mostly while on driving, but this one was a ton of fun.
  • Not only is the combat stellar, with its inherent dynamism, but the customization is insanely good too. ... The way your Magnum Opus ties into exploring and checklisting your way around the Ubisoft-style open world is really great too.

Cons

  • Loved the driving, found the melee combat kinda boring. Exploration was fun, even on foot. My biggest issue is how empty the world gets as you make progress; I wanted more bad guys around to use my cool endgame cars and gear on!
  • I can never get into this game. I tried again after being thoroughly disappointed by it upon release. ... I just can't do it with these objective-based open worlds, man. ... I'm just sad that we never got a game to match that energy, and...
  • I'm playing it atm and honestly it feels just like a big to-do-list in the worst way. You do the same exact motions a dozen or a hundred times on each area, same quests, same animations etc.
  • Overall, plugging it into my scale I'd give it an 8/10 personally, 7.5/10 objectively. Very good game, but there's a myriad of painfully obvious stuff wrong with it that you discover as you play, even if it's largely inoffensive or a min...

I can never get into this game. I tried again after being thoroughly disappointed by it upon release. ... I just can't do it with these objective-based open worlds, man. ... I'm just sad that we never got a game to match that energy, and instead we have this slow-paced open world (that I'm sure most of you enjoy) but isn't true to what I enjoy about the series.

Looking back on it, I can definitely see it as promotional material for the then-brand new Fury Road. That being said, despite its apparent flaws it was still a lot of fun, and at the end of the day amounted to being much more than just a gamified ad that you spend money to willingly play through.
