Pros

  • First real mk build: Lucky65 V2
  • I love my Lucky65 v2 and would be down to get the next iteration, but I’m just not into the limited colors available now.
  • Lucky65 v2, but you have to purchase the split spacebar plate separately (the stock plate doesn’t support it even though the pcb does).
  • The Lucky65 V2 is fantastic and punches way above its price point
  • Gonna work on my Lucky65 tomorrow, maybe mirror polish it.

Cons

  • I built my green Lucky65 v2 with a GMK botanical set and I wasn’t a fan of the stark white look on the green, so I think I found something that works
  • Parent context: Nice! Please let me know if you manage to get the 2.4ghz dongle paired the first time… I can’t seem to get mine to pair - I’m wondering if I need to update the dongle firmware or something. Reply: Thanks, yeah sorry I did...
  • This board was not my favorite when I got it. It had been intended as a budget aluminum board to sound test switches. It tested my patience more than anything! It sounded inconsistent, the PC plate was not a good fit and moved around cre...
  • Parent context: Very nice! how do you like it so far? Reply: Really, REALLY love the feel of these switches. They're a little loud for my taste, maybe I should've gotten the Quinns instead. As for the rest of the keyboard, it's solid and...

In terms of quality, I think both boards are very solid, neither came with any defects (at least in my experience). ... The Lucky65 comes almost fully built out of the box. All you really need to do is put in some switches and keycaps (and mods if you’d like). ... Overall, both are excellent. ... If you want something that sounds great with minimal building, the Lucky65 is a solid choice.

There are other options that would go slightly above your budget, such as buying a budget barebones kit like the Lucky65 V2, adding your preferred tactile switches, and keycaps.

Reply: Mine paired without much issue. Plug in the dongle, switch to dongle mode and it connects. Used it to connect to 3 different devices.
