Pros

  • London eye + boat trip will make seeing the sights "fun" for kids
  • London eye if you’ve got to pay as the ride massively adds to the experience
  • Going on the London eye at night and being able to see the Christmas lights was pretty cool
  • Do go on the London Eye and to the Tower of London, they’re good at any time of year.
  • We nearly skipped the London Eye because we assumed it'd be crowded and a bit touristy, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip! The grandparents could take things at their own pace, the kids were completely absorbed spot...

Cons

  • The only "traps" you should really avoid are the London Eye, London Dungeon and Madame Tussauds.
  • London Eye is long, slow and boring and you're trapped in a big glass bubble. I think it's about half an hour, but feels so much longer.
  • Save your money on London Eye on Day 3 and instead book Duck and Waffle for an early breakfast on Day 2. Breakfast will be around £20 a head depending on what you eat, the views (it’s on the 42nd floor) are much more impressive
  • Being stuck on London Eye with nothing happening sounds super boring to me. Go to a bar in a tower with similar views and grab a drink for less than you'd pay to go on it.
  • Don't trust the guys in the electric pedi cabs with the pink fuzzy sitting space for customers. Especially around the London eye. They tried to take all the money from my debit and credit cards.

We nearly skipped the London Eye because we assumed it'd be crowded and a bit touristy, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip! The grandparents could take things at their own pace, the kids were completely absorbed spotting landmarks, and for once nobody was asking to split off and do something else.

I was thinking about the London Eye, then dinner somewhere along the South Bank afterwards. It seems easy to organise and fairly chilled for a bigger group.
