Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed what has to be one of the most under-rated cities in the UK.
One of my favourite cities here. People who skip Liverpool and go to boring, grey, industrial Manchester instead having no idea what they're missing.
Go see some authentic Britain like Manchester and Liverpool or Leeds. The cities that brought in trade and drove the Industrial Revolution, tonnes of history and also the friendliest people you’ll meet in the UK and the best vibes and bars - slightly roughed around the edges but that’s what makes them so fucking good (miles safer than London too).
But if you're really into the Beatles you should definitely go to Liverpool (2hr20min train from London) and do the Magical Mystery Tour.
I'm in love with this city. Can't wait to return.
I'd add Newcastle or Liverpool if OP wants a buzzy place but not a historic vibe (though both have fine Victorian era architecture).
If London isn’t your thing then 2 day/1 night trip to Bath, York, Liverpool or Edinburgh are often recommended.
I had such a great night out in Liverpool at an indie club in 2001! It looked like a house from the outside, danced, drank and a lovely Scouse walked me home. Fun memories.
Liverpool is a lovely city filled with very friendly people as you say. It’s often slighted by the rest of the U.K. but don’t listen to that nonsense. It’s lively, there’s great food and drinks and is cozy. Apart from the weather it’s really a great place and they have also have a good football club 😉
I'd sooner recommend York, Bath, Liverpool, Manchester, the Peak District, Lake District, or Cornwall for places in England.
