Lauterbrunnen

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Lauterbrunnen is highly regarded as a premier destination and a strategic base for exploring the Bernese Oberland. Travelers frequently describe the valley as a "wonderland" with scenery that exceeds the quality of photos and videos. It is praised for its exceptional connectivity via public transport and cable cars to surrounding mountain villages and major attractions like Staubbach and Trümmelbach Falls.
Pros
- Stunning "postcard" scenery that travelers find even more impressive in person than in media.
- Excellent central hub for public transport, providing easy access to Wengen, Mürren, and Grindelwald.
- Abundant outdoor activities including numerous hiking trails and paragliding.
- Wider variety of restaurant options compared to some of the smaller, higher-altitude villages.
- Convenient access to famous landmarks like the Trümmelbach and Staubbach Falls.
Caveats
- While Lauterbrunnen is a popular base, some travelers recommend heading to higher villages like Wengen or Mürren for the best panoramic views.
- One user noted that while they found it 'affordable' compared to big cities, a room with a view still cost approximately $300 per night.
Best for
- Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts looking for a central base.
- Travelers using the Swiss Travel Pass or Jungfrau Pass for regional exploration.
- Photographers and those seeking iconic Alpine landscapes.
Avoid if
- You prefer staying at the highest possible elevation for constant valley-floor views (consider Wengen or Mürren instead).

Any of them? They all in the mountains with shops, numerous trails around them, cable cars, and easy access to other valleys in the area by public transport.
lauterbrunnen/wegen/murren are all amazing (definitely recommend getting up to one of the villages above lauterbrunnen for views).
I will visit Lauterbrunnen from Wengen. Thank you!
Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen are must-dos.
I have taken all the measures I can think of to make getting around as easy as possible (Swiss pass, jungfrau pass, staying next to stations, staying in Lauterbrunnen rather than Wengen etc)
Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen day trip
Lauterbrunnen was super cool!
At Interlaken you can visit Grindelwald First if the kids like outdoor activities, or just hang around Lake Brienz or even go a but further to Lauterbrunnen.
When we finally made it in 2023, it was the most emotional I've ever felt arriving somewhere as it hit me like wow this place is not only real it's even more mindblwoing than I ever imagined, pics and video really don't do it justice
Went there last summer and it was a wonderland. we went paragliding through the valley and it was the coolest thing I have ever done.
