Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Reddit sentiment toward lastminute.com is predominantly negative, with users frequently warning against the platform due to poor customer service and extreme difficulty obtaining refunds. While some travelers report successful, incident-free bookings, the consensus is that the risks of using this third-party intermediary often outweigh the potential cost savings, especially when travel plans are disrupted.

Pros

  • Can be functional for simple bookings if no changes or cancellations are required
  • Occasionally offers lower upfront prices than direct booking

Cons

  • Extremely difficult to get responses or help from customer support
  • Hefty fees for voluntary cancellations
  • Significant hurdles in obtaining refunds or vouchers even when flights are cancelled
  • Reports of 'bait and switch' pricing where initial group rates don't match final options
  • Airlines often cannot assist directly because the booking is owned by the agency

Caveats

  • Users report a 'middleman' effect where neither the agency nor the airline takes responsibility for ticket updates
  • Negative experiences may be more vocal, but the difficulty of resolution is a recurring theme

Best for

  • Budget-conscious travelers with high risk tolerance
  • Simple trips where you are certain no changes will be needed

Avoid if

  • You want the security of dealing directly with an airline
  • You are booking for a large group with specific room requirements
  • You may need to cancel or change your travel dates

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is based on a small set of mentions with a median age of 173 days; as travel service reliability can fluctuate, this older data may not reflect very recent policy changes.

I have contacted Lastminute to see if I can get a refund or change my package to a different date due to this but they are really not helping.

Lastminute are saying only if my flight is cancelled, then they can do something. They are not confirming whether I am entitled to a full refund or voucher or date change in the event that the flight is cancelled.

They have also mentioned that if I wish to voluntary cancel the trip, they will charge a hefty amount (obviously I do not wish to do this)

Expedia, LastMinute, LoveHolidays, that sort of vibe. I'm begrudgingly happy to pay 20% or so more and book through the airline I'll be travelling on if that's the advice, though!

I flew via them 6 months ago and was all good & booked a hotel via them a month ago & again all good. The negative experiences will be the minority so try not to worry too much!

Feeling a little fear mongered by everything ive seen on here about them, most people seem to have alright experiences with them, I have a flight pending with them and it was booked friday evening, obviously will not be fulfilled until next week, but I feel like the things I see on here are really worrying me :(

Ticket was booked through lastminute.com who isn’t responding and Air India has denied updating the ticket at their end.

Anyone else seeing the [lastminute.com](http://lastminute.com) 'bait and switch'? I input my group size, but it keeps showing rooms that won't fit everyone. The options that fit everyone are massively marked up. What to do?

Your booking is with Lastminute, not the airline, so the airline can't help you - and Lastminute just aren't going to go out of their way for something that won't make them any money.
