Laos has some rough roads and not the best infrastructure. Power outages are fairly common. The high speed rail is also on the outskirts of Luang Prabang and Vientiane compared to the airport, making it a bit time consuming to use.

I have to say it was an extremely fulfilling and rewarding trip. Laos is a wonderful place for travelers, with friendly people, great food, a vibrant culture and plenty of things to see and do.
