Lake Garda is awesome and I would recommend the Punta Laricci hike while parking in Pregasina.
Lake Garda is a very much a recreational lake with tons of people cycling the surrounding mountains, kite surfing, wind surfing, sailing, kayaking, swimming and hiking in the surrounding area.
Lake Garda is larger than the other Italian lakes, but it is still a lake. The water is not as crystal clear as in many beaches on the mediterranean coast. I still encourage you to visit it because it is really beautiful, but do not expect a Caribbean experience!
One thing I’d flag, Lake Garda and especially the Dolomites are quite far for a day trip from Venice. It’s possible but will feel rushed.
