I would guess Como would be more operational since it is a major tourist destination but it's still small.
I stayed there with my girlfriend for 3 nights and we visited a lot of landmarks in the city + went to lake Como.
Im thinking Verona, Bologna...we've been to Venice before. Is Como worth a visit?

Garda, Maggiore, and Como are all beautiful and more or less on the way.
If you have time to get out of the city, Lake Como is absolutely beautiful and can be accessed as a day trip from and to Milan by train.
