I'd best describe La Paz as the closest thing on Earth we have to some Star Wars city in a distant galaxy.
Life in the cities like La Paz and Sucre is such an interesting blend of mostly Quechua, Aymara and Spanish cultures.
While a place like Cusco is much more polished and with a lot of charm, La Paz is more of a raw, chaotic look at a living Andean city, it’s just doing its own thing at a very high altitude.
La Paz is easily one of the most surreal cities I have ever visited. It sits in a massive canyon at about 11,800 feet.
La Paz is incredible. The sea of Cortez is beautiful. We’ve been twice and swam with whale sharks and seals and did some incredible snorkeling.
Personally I like La Paz more these days.
La Paz with trips to Isla del Sol in Titicaca and Salar de Uyuni
Anyway, it means you’ll have to spend at least one night in La Paz. But it’s a cool town. The views from the aerial trams are incredible.
La Paz and Bolivia in general are one of the safest places I've been. Lovely people, really helpful and kind.
