La Jolla

Pros
- Definitely visit La Jolla before you go.
- Since you have a car, driving up to La Jolla and Carlsbad is fun.
- Or La Jolla, upper end shopping, on the coast, north San Diego, walkable town.
- Visiting Sunset cliffs for the sunset or tide pools at La Jolla are also good things.
- There are several places in La Jolla that have companies that have rentals. I did one that combined kayaking with snorkeling (they provide wetsuits) that was awesome.

There is also La Jolla or a number of smaller coastal towns like Carlsbad and Encinitas north of San Diego that are great places to stay as well.
