Pros

  • I didn’t like Senggigi beach as much and maybe should have gone to Kuta instead.
  • Personally I didn't like Senggigi. The beaches around are not as good as Kuta or the Gilis, and it's not particularly interesting.
  • For me, I’d choose Kuta because it’s more social and easier to meet other solo travelers. Sunsets are right on the beach, nightlife is walkable, and everything feels more accessible.
  • Kuta is generally safe for tourists. Just be aware of your surroundings, avoid quiet areas late at night, and keep an eye on your belongings. Locals are friendly and helpful.

Cons

  • Avoid kuta. It was cool before but it’s faded into a creepy nightlife scene in my opinion.
  • That being said, if you're OK with getting away from the main/popular tourist areas (Kuta, Changgu, Ubud, Sangur) you might have a better time of it.
  • Kuta is also where a lot of the nightclubs and bars are at night, and can be a little rough, so just be sure to keep your wits about you.
  • Don't stay at Kuta, if you want to go to the beach. I was recently there, and found it absolutely disgusting.
