Pros
- Digital pianos to consider would be from Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Kawai and Casio. These compete with each other so compare well, the difference is subjective, I like this, you like that. Other brands might disappoint.
- I don't know about Korg's, but that might be something to look into, some people like them.
- Generally something labeled as a digital piano that is made by yamaha, kawai, roland, korg or casio is a good start
- I'd say that only Korg, Roland and Kurzweil are at the same level.
- Korg makes great keyboards, and is known for having some really awesome preset sounds, as well.
Cons
- I've read up on the usual diminutive suspects in the sub-$200 bucket by the likes of Roland and Korg.
- I feel the synth market besides Artuira are holding themselves back, korg, Roland, and moog are all stuck in the 80s and charging big bucks to have basic features now
- I‘ve seen on YouTube what people can do with those workstations from Korg or Roland and I think that might be what I want.

I like Korg, Novation, 1010 Music, Michigan Synthworks, and Mutable Instruments. All of them produce well designed gear and / or have really good customer support.
If you couldn’t tell, I really think Korg is the best value synths for the money. They’re not the best, but for the money you spend on them, you get a TON of synth.

I personally would stay within the big 5 clans: Yamaha, Roland, Kawai, Korg, or Casio, but they are slightly pricier due to their outstanding and reliable quality.
