Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is widely regarded by players as a significant improvement over its predecessor, with many calling it a masterpiece and one of the best RPGs in years. While it retains the series' signature focus on slow-burn immersion and historical detail, it features better optimization, improved production values, and a more accessible tutorial system. However, its extremely slow pace and heavy reliance on cutscenes during the opening hours can be a barrier for players with limited time.
Pros
- Significant improvements in graphics, motion capture, and music over the first game
- Deep RPG systems with high quest freedom and meaningful consequences
- Strong optimization and smooth performance reported on both PC and PS5 Pro
- Engaging story and dialogue that maintains a unique sense of humor
- More accessible introduction and tutorials compared to the original title
Cons
- Extremely slow-paced introduction that can take hours to complete
- Heavy density of cutscenes in the early game (e.g., 70 minutes of mostly cinematics)
- Combat mechanics remain polarizing and can appear frustrating to newcomers
- Occasional immersion-breaking bugs and visual pop-in reported at launch
Caveats
- The game requires a massive time commitment to reach the main content
- While performance is generally praised, some users expressed early concerns about hardware optimization before launch
- Success in the game often depends on mastering complex, realistic mechanics that may feel tedious to some
Best for
- Fans of deep, immersive RPGs like Morrowind, Oblivion, or Fallout: New Vegas
- Players who value historical realism and narrative-driven single-player experiences
- Those looking for a game with high replayability through branching quest paths
Avoid if
- You have very limited time for gaming sessions
- You prefer fast-paced action over slow-burn immersion
- You are easily frustrated by complex combat systems or long cinematic sequences

I absolutely loved playing KCD2 but if I hadn't had a free week and 0 plans there is no way in hell I would've even reached the end of the intro
It’s a beautiful game with an impressive open world and story, but if you have little time to game and don’t appreciate slow immersion it probably isn’t for you.
I went straight into the sequel and although the prequel is referenced, everything important that happened before is thoroughly explained in the sequel. I never felt I missed something, and the sequel is my game if the year above clair obscur.

Reviewed very, very well. One of 2025's GOTY contenders Got a ton of good reviews and sales at launch. Still getting title updates and will be getting DLC soon. Very deep and it's well worth the money if you like long RPGs.

Parent context: That's good to hear. I wouldn't want to play it on switch because losing the fidelity and (presumably) 60 fps to make it work, but I'm glad more people will get to experience it if this is true. My personal game of the year, even though I did love E33.
Actually scales surprisingly well. It runs well on a Steam Deck, albeit low settings.
One of the best looking games out there on current gen hardware.
