Kenmore 600 Series
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Kenmore 600 Series is frequently recommended as a high-value canister vacuum that excels on carpets and pet hair for its price point. While it is praised for its powerful suction and motorized attachments, users often compare it unfavorably to premium brands regarding build quality and filtration sealing.
Pros
- Excellent performance on medium to high-pile carpets
- Includes a motorized electric hand tool effective for stairs and pet hair
- High value for the price compared to premium European brands
- Notable improvement in power and features over the Kenmore 400 series
Cons
- Bulky and heavy design makes it less maneuverable
- Build quality and materials do not inspire the same confidence as Miele or SEBO
- Potential for debris leakage inside the bag chamber if the bag is not seated perfectly
Caveats
- It is not a sealed system; despite having HEPA filters, air leakage may occur, making it less ideal for severe allergy sufferers
- The evidence for this product is older (median age over 400 days), which may not reflect the most recent manufacturing revisions
Best for
- Budget-conscious buyers with significant carpeted areas
- Pet owners needing a motorized tool for upholstery and stairs
- Users looking for a powerful canister vacuum under $400
Avoid if
- You have severe allergies and require a certified sealed filtration system
- You need a lightweight or compact vacuum for easy carrying
- You prioritize long-term durability and premium build quality
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 409 days, which may impact relevance for current hardware revisions.

Parent context: As one of the peeps who have recommended the Kenmore 600 as good bang for buck... Man this sucks to see. Mine has been good so far but this stuff really shouldn't hapeen after 10 years, let alone days. Reply: Yeah for real. I got one of these and adore the fuck out of it. One of my housekeepers threw it down the stairs and all it got was slightly marked up! I got mine about 18 months ago.
I bought this 600 for a week and was going to keep it but the more I used it the more the little things really bothered me. The hair eliminator feature I found works pretty good with hair on the roller. The seam ripper gets the rest without having to take the 15 screws out to get to to roller (which can’t be removed or replaced).

The Kenmore 600 Series is a very competent vacuum, especially compared to bagless vacuums. ... The new powerhead with the hair eliminator brushroll has no carpet height adjustment and you are not meant to access the brushroll or belt. Kenmore does not sell brushrolls or belts for the new hair eliminator style.
I initially bought the Kenmore, wife and I used it for a few days and we’re in agreement we were going to keep it. ... both do the main job of vacuuming the carpet with dog hair pretty good. ... Get the Kenmore if you are strictly on a budget. It will do the job very well for however long it will last.
My friend bought the 600 last year and adores it. For any average person, the price difference is not justified, whatever the vacuum sales guys on here try to tell you. The 600 is great- get it, don’t think twice, and enjoy.
50/50 floor surfaces almost always points to a canister with powerhead. ... Kenmore 400/600, Miele C3 cat and dog. Dark horse is Prolux Phantom or QX series.
The Kenmore 600 seems well-regarded (from people who have one, although the build quality is not as good and the hose seems to be particularly meh)
Anecdotally I saw a comment recently where someone said they have both and the 600 works better
The Kenmore 400 and 600 series are great entry-mid level canister vacuums and I have no issue recommending either (although I lean more towards the 600 just for included tools)
