Pros

  • The Kawai CA901 has the soundboard. It does sound good, but it is out of OP's price range.
  • Before buying an acoustic, maybe try a high end digital, like a Kawai CA901, just so you are can compare apples to apples. ... The Kawai CA901 has a soundboard, the sound is nearly indistinguishable from my teacher’s grand (except perfec...
  • The sound of 901 really is incredible!
  • Playing off both the 901 and 401- I really did love the feel of the 901 and the key action more.
  • If you have the budget, go for the 901. You won't regret it.

Cons

  • my Kawai CA901 is quite expensive and has an unusable latency when you use Bluetooth, but it’s only unusable if you want to pass the audio back into the CA901 from the laptop.

901 sounds nicer than the 701 because of the soundboard, so the sound of the speakers is deflected by the soundboard before reaching your ears, the same way sound travels in a real upright.

To me, the linear weight and counterweights made a huge difference - they made the keys feel smooth while not making the keys heavy.

If you’re planning to use the piano’s speakers then 901 is the way to go. It’s by far the better sounding of the two.

Action wise, the 901 is maybe a 9/10 whereas the 401 is a 8/10.
