Pros
- If you want to get him something more unique, maybe a Japanese whiskey or Kavalan (Tiawanese).
- I wanted to try Kavalan for a while, so maybe that would be my choice, although I can’t tell if it’s good or not, but what I heard is positive!
- I would personally would take the Kavalan or the Balvenie
- That kavalan is something else for me, really outstanding whisky.
- Kavalan and Dalwhinnie are generally not something you see in "I'm new to whisky" posts. Good job. Good bottles.
Cons
- the kavalans are also great options but i think that they're too expensive and you can get them cheaper somewhere else
- Those aren't the best Kavalans, they're the entry range and worth upgrading from.

I co sign this hard, they have been some of the best single malts I’ve ever had. And last years Mascatel was mind blowing if you like sherry finish.
Kavalan FTW
Kavalan has a new 15 years release that's the oldest they have done. If you like cask strength then the soloist range for sure.
