Pros
- On a Kamado Joe, here's what works well: ... I run the KJ around 275–300°F indirect ... Either works great on a KJ
- I have a Kamado Joe and have smoked briskets, ribs, pork butts, etc
- Like the best fatty brisket I ever had . Made it on my Kamado Joe.
- I do fat side down on my kamado Joe, I don't use a water pan but I do things for sides in a pyrex dish underneath
- I was never interested in baking pizza on a grill (I thought it was a gimmick) but, once I had a kamado, I thought I'd give it a try and the results were the best pizza I've ever made at home. Lately I've been thinking about baking empan...
Cons
- In cases where you screw up and need to add more charcoal, kamados (at least my KJ) are a complete bitch. You have to take the meat out, the grates off, the deflector plates out, add the coals, and reassemble the whole thing.

We had movers drop our Komado Joe and Komado took the whole thing and fixed it and tested it. 5 years later, still going strong.
I dont have a smokey mountain, but i have a kamado joe and a weber kettle. The difference in taste is pretty huge compared to my traeger.
The Big Green Egg and Kamado Joe grills use the lump. Very efficient cooking method.
If not stuck with pellets I’m moving on to a Kamado Joe right now.
