K18

It is a good reminder though that neither Olaplex or K18 seem to have proven their products do what they claim to do. Also that they probably do *something* and do that something in a different way.

I read a lot about that when people were discussing why K18 is a miracle for some (me) and terrible for others (as in causing breakage).

I know that K18 does require you to clarify your hair before using it in order to get the most benefit from it.

I think it's plausible that folks with very damaged hair may find that the K18 mask alone is not conditioning enough for them. I don't think that necessarily says anything about whether it's doing anything inside of the cortex to strengthen the hair.

K18 has put a lot of effort into marketing and have also patented their technology, which makes it seem very advanced, but again there haven't been any independent studies (to my knowledge) to verify that the product is working exactly as it claims. That being said, many people have experienced an improvement when using it, it's just unclear whether that is from repair happening deep within the hair, or if it's coming from the other conditioning agents in the product

I have heard that some people find that K18 alone isn't sufficiently conditioning, so they rinse it out after the 4 minutes and then apply their preferred rinse-out conditioner.
