Jakarta is a partially developed, sprawling, economic city. It’s huge and can be deceptively slow to travel around. There are some places of interest, and it has a good collection of food from around the country (and international) but other than that, most people just use it as a launchpad to stock up or condition locally before launching out — it has good access to foreign creature comforts and is less jarring to dive into.
