Intermezzo

Pros

• It’s my favourite sally rooney book so far.
• Intermezzo was cool cause both pov characters are male, and it was acrually incredible how well she nailed the male voices.
• Her newest, Intermezzo, is also fantastic.
• Going from normal people to intermezzo, her characters have more depth and you can see how she has matured not just in her writing but in her understanding of emotions and connection.
• I enjoyed the distinct styles of the brothers when expressing themselves, and the mirror image of the brothers' relationships to each other.

Cons

• I found this book to be such a slog. I understand why people like it and her writing, and I did find some beautiful prose/moments. But I just thought Peter was so insufferable, I didn’t really want to spend any time with him and his thou...
• I read this last month and I’m still not sure how I feel about it, which probably means I didn’t like it!
• I got a headache reading it. She has no sense of coherence in here writing. You can’t even tell who is the person thinking this or writing it, it keeps switching so abruptly.
• Intermezzo I found a slog at the start but it’s the only book to date to give me a panic attack and I cried my way through the ending, it was so moving!
