In the Hills, the Cities

so i just finished in the hills the cities and wow… barkers way of writing and descriptive writing in this story specifically is haunting to me. ive always been a big fan of absurd incomprehensible horror, stories that are just plain weird enough to stick with you and eat away at your mind after reading.

Clive Barker's short story In the Hills, the Cities gave me Junji Ito vibes. ... Great, weird stuff.

In the Hills the Cities is so criminally underrated it makes me insane, like people will talk about Dread or The Midnight Meat Train forever and this one just sits there being the most ambitious thing in the whole collection

It really is one of the standouts from all six volumes. And the illustration by John Bolton is one of the most haunting I've seen.

The first few stories were great don't get me wrong but then I hit "In the Hills, the Cities" and something just shifted in my brain in a way that I'm still trying to untangle three days later

In the Hills the Cities broke my brain when I was like 17 and I still think about it randomly
