Pros
- FWIW I really liked the movie. The ending was… a choice. But overall I enjoyed it as well.
- I have seen the movie too and enjoyed it, though for me it had a very different feel than the book does. Still very much surrealism, but in a more overt and visual way (making sense for film versus text.)
- I'd disagree with a previous commenter, I found the film to be extraordinary. I watched it before reading the book. Both great in their own ways. They are also quite a bit differernt as well. Nobody thinks like Charlie Kaufman does.
Cons
- I saw the movie and didn’t particularly care for it but I did get the book and will be reading it shortly.
- I’ll never forgive the movie for sucking though.
- Parent context: Read the book first then watched the movie. Reply: The movie sucks and is boring. I was literally thinking that was time I would never get back. It’s all subjective of course but I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch the m...
- Also, I'll stand by others that the movie was bad and it cut out some of the best parts of the already short novel.
- BUT, I absolutely hated the movie. Not nearly creepy enough!!!!

The film is garbage. There's the unsettling interactions in the parents' house which is decent enough, then it descends into almost a horror movie when it moves into the school and stuff that's explained in the book is forced onto the screen without any explanation. My family who hadn't read the book had no idea what was going on. It's a poor adaptation.
They made it into a movie on Netflix but changed it and it wasn’t good.
