Hubitat is straightforward and works with the Zooz equipment. It has an Alexa skill that is easy to set up and add devices to.
Take a look at either Aeotec Smart hub or Hubitat. These hubs are primarily local(with some integrations with cloud stuff), so you basically buy this appliance, connect it to your wifi/lan, and they should Just Work. Between the two, the Aeotec is a bit more "simple" and Hubitat is more towards the DIY/customisation friendly (not necessarily bad, as Hubitat has a very healthy community).

I felt the same and went with Hubitat over home assistant. I think Hubitat is more user friendly.

Look into Hubitat I had one for 3 years and it does everything I throw at it. There is a learning curve but plenty of help available.
I've been using Hubitat for 3 years and it does everything I need for automations. If there is a problem or I need help with a automation the community page will help usually within a couple hours.
