HomePod

Pros
- I use my homepods as chimes.
- I have a HomePod in our main bathroom that can also be sent the same audio and play in sync with the speakers downstairs.
- All you need is an iPhone/iPad/Mac for the Home app, and either an AppleTV or HomePod (to act as the automation controller hub).
- If you're in the Apple ecosystem then the no-brainer option is to get a HomePod or HomePod mini.
- For your HomePod idea: great choice. It can be your HomeKit hub and also handle multi-room audio.
Cons
- It only becomes problematic if you start buying a ton of accessoires/smaller products of the same brand that basically only work well with devices of said brand, especially smart home related things like homepods.
- HomePod, echo studio, or nest audio (adjust bass and treble for better sound for nest audio )
- I’ll need to grab a HomePod to go in my kitchen/dining room but other than that, the whole house is already set.

I’m considering using apple HomePod as the “brains” of the operation but I’m open to suggestions.

HomePod volume can be set. It’s listening for the wake word, Siri. So, always on.

A stereo pair of full-size HomePods can be your very good speakers in the living room. Highly recommend connecting them to your Apple TV, they sound really great.
